Q: what other ingredients do I need to add to the pre-mix? 
A: Water and 1 teaspoon of sugar to activate the yeast (don't worry, the sugar gets gobbled up in the leavening process) + 2 eggs and 15g melted butter.

Q: How do I get the instructions to make the hot cross buns?
A: The method steps are listed on the back of the packet. These are a yeasted product and do require kneading and time to prove. Trust us, it's SO worth it. Good things take time and your house will smell just like Easter. enjoy.

Q: How do I shape the buns to get them smooth on top?
A: wet your hands and handle the dough while your hands are damp. Roll the dough on the bench using the palm of your hand, until it forms a ball. Gently tuck any loose ends & loose fruit pieces that might come out underneath to create a smooth top. 

Q: How do you prepare the golden berries
A: In a heat proof bowl, place 2 Tablespoons of your desired sweetener in with the dried golden berries fruit, cover with hot water, stir and leave to soak overnight in advance or while you continue on with the recipe instructions. Pass through a strainer to separate the liquid from the plumped up berries. Chopping up the fruit pieces into smaller pieces will ensure more even distribution throughout the hot cross buns. You can also use the water that the berries have been soaking in, (once it's cooled down to a warm temperature) in the recipe.
