~ Make your own Electrolytes Recipe
There's nothing better than the energy, focus and resilience to stress that you get from dosing and balancing electrolytes to meet your unique needs. Below is everything that you need to know about making your own electrolytes, including recipes. Each individual ingredient is pure, and specifically curated to be gentle on stomachs and digestion.
Plus we have outlined the calculation workings and logic behind it. If you need to tweak any component, you can work that math, to get a revised daily dose, then x 7 or x 30 to suit to make a batch.
Advantages of making your own Electrolyte Mix.
1. Precise Control Over Ingredients
You choose exactly which electrolytes and how much of each you’re getting.
Avoids unwanted or excessive sugar, artificial sweeteners, colors, or preservatives commonly found in commercial products.
2. Customisable to Your Needs
You can adjust for your personal activity level, diet, climate, or health conditions (e.g., low sodium diets or high potassium needs).
Tailor ratios for fasting, athletics, heat exposure, or muscle cramp prevention.
3. Better Absorption + Fewer Fillers
No added binders, gums, or stabilisers that might interfere with absorption.
You can pair with real food or water intake for better uptake and digestion.
4. Avoid Hidden Sodium Overload or Sugar Spikes
Many sports drinks contain too much sugar and not enough potassium or magnesium.
DIY lets you correct the common imbalance: most products are high in sodium and low in potassium, calcium, or magnesium.
Q: How much of each electrolyte is enough?
A: We have based our recipe on the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) Targets for Adults (19+ years). RDA is the average daily intake level of a nutrient that is considered sufficient to meet the nutritional requirements of nearly all (97–98%) healthy individuals in a particular age and gender group.
Nutrient RDA/Adequate Intake
Potassium 4700 mg
Sodium 1500 mg (Adequate Intake)
Magnesium 400 mg
Calcium 1000 mg
Vitamin C 90 mg
Q: How many mg's nutrient values are there in our electrolyte ingredients?
A: Here are the confirmed nutrients per gram (ie per 1000mg) of the ingredients that we sell here at Keto Store NZ:
• Potassium Chloride = 516 mg Potassium (K) and 2 mg Sodium (Na) per gram
• Calcium citrate = 210 mg Calcium (Ca) per gram
• Celtic Sea Salt = 352 mg Sodium (Na) per gram
• Magnesium Glycinate = 141 mg Magnesium (Mg) per gram
• Vitamin C (also known as Ascorbic Acid) = 1000 mg Vitamin C per gram
Electrolyte Mix Recipe (Using our Ingredients)
📅 Daily Electrolyte Mix
Based on the nutrient values and the recommended dietary amounts, calculate a daily amount of each nutrient for a dose.

Calculated by taking each Daily Nutrient amount and multiplying by 7
Potassium Chloride 63.77 g
Calcium Citrate 33.32 g
Celtic Sea Salt 29.47 g
Magnesium Glycinate 19.88 g
Vitamin C (also known as Ascorbic Acid) 0.63 g
Flavour It of choice 22g flavoured water style OR 36.75g for a juice flavour concentration
7 day Total Batch Weight
Unflavoured 147.07 g
Flavoured Water 169.12g
Juice like flavour 183.87g
📅 30-Day Electrolyte Mix
Calculated by taking each Daily Nutrient amount and multiplying by 30
Ingredient Amount (g)
Potassium Chloride 273.30 g
Calcium Citrate 142.80 g
Celtic Sea Salt 126.30 g
Magnesium Glycinate 85.20 g
Vitamin C (also known as Ascorbic Acid) 2.70 g
Flavour It of choice 94.5g flavoured water style OR 158g for a juice style of flavour concentration
30 day Total Batch Weight
Unflavoured 630g
Flavoured Water 725g
Juice like flavour 788g
Grams per Day Dose
21.01 g/day Unflavoured
24.16g/day Flavoured Water OR 31.5g/day Juice Style Flavour
How to Make
1 - Into a container, add the weight of each ingredient, taring off the scale in between.
2 - Choose what Flavour by selecting from the broad range of Flavour Its, which are inulin based natural flavours sweetened with Pure Monk Fruit Extract.
3 - Work out the amount of grams of Flavour It to add into the mixture by this calculation: Overall weight of the unflavoured mixture x multiplied by 15% flavoured water OR x 25% for a juice style concentration of flavour, depending on your taste preferences.
4 - Shake to combine and keep in an airtight container. Desiccant pouches will assist keeping the combined powder dry.
How to Use on a daily basis
• For best accuracy, use a digital kitchen scale to weigh out the daily dose: 21.01 g/day Unflavoured OR 24.16g/day Flavoured Water OR 31.5g/day for a Juice Style Flavour Concentration.
• Stir into 500 mL to 1 liter of water and shake or mix well.
• For best absorption spread out the daily dose over 3 drinks, each 500ml to 1 litre.
Potential drawbacks to be aware of
• Requires a scale: For accuracy, especially with minerals like potassium and magnesium.
• Taste: DIY mixes can be salty or bitter—though this is fixable with flavorings or citrus.
• Safety: Overdoing electrolytes (especially potassium or sodium) can be dangerous—especially for people with heart, kidney, or blood pressure issues.
• Storage: Must be kept dry and properly mixed; daily use needs some effort.
