Hot Dogs on a Stick - Recipe using the Batter Mix

Yes, another myth busted - you can have Hot Dogs on Keto!

Servings 6 however both the number of hot dogs this mixture makes and the Macros will depend on what sausages you use. So the macros shown here are calculated for a batch of the batter without sausages. Net Carbs 0.1g, Protein 16g, Fat 0.1g, Energy 323 kJ Sodium 580mg. 

Ingredients for 6 servings (* = available here at Keto Store NZ)
1 sachet of the Batter mix or 2.5 Tablespoons from the Jar of Batter mix* 
1 Egg
1 Tablespoon cold Sparkling Water or a low carb Beer 
Ice block sticks
Low carb sausages

Recipe Method: 
1 - Add the contents of the sachet or 2.5 Tablespoons of batter mix into a bowl
2 - Add in the egg and 1 Tablespoon of cold wet ingredients, whisking vigorously for a good minute to remove any flour bumps and make a light creamy batter. 
3 - Heat oil (olive oil works great) on a medium heat, test if ready by dropping a bit of the batter in. It should bubble like crazy. For crispy batter it's essential the oil is hot enough. 
4 - Skewer Low Carb Sausages with Sticks 3/4 of the way, leaving a stick handle to hold onto
5 - Dry the sausages off with a paper towel and dunk the sausages in batter, rolling them until fully covered.
6 - Deep fry until the batter turns golden, turning the hot dog over as it cooks.
      Hint: If you leave the batter sitting, whisk it 20 seconds before coating anything else.
7 - Transfer to a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
