Yacon Root Powder - Organic 100g

Pronounced “yuh-kon” this yacon powder is made from an organic and raw tuber vegetable called a yacon. Yacon Powder is made by harvesting the yacon root, dehydrating it, then milling it into a fine powder.

Ingredients: Organically made from 100% yacon root, which is high in antioxidants.

What's it good for? Effective against constipation and may lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels. It fuels the bacteria in your gut enabling it to thrive, so really great for gut health. The powder helps your body absorb all the essential vitamins and minerals. In effect, this doesn't just promote weight loss, but leads to stronger bone density.

Dairy-free, Keto, Low-carb, Vegetarian, Vegan and Sugar-free ways of life.

Sweetness: this is delicately sweet, not overly. So if you'd prefer to boost it still in a natural way, then add 1/2 tsp of pure monkfruit extract per 100g yacon powder as a perfect way to naturally add sweetness, with a hint of caramelisation. That makes the sweetness and taste more like yacon syrup, so we've added that as an option for purchase on the drop down Options menu.

When it's best to have: Taken well before meals gives the extract time to supply your body with all the necessary soluble fibre and feed the healthy bacteria in your stomach as well, gearing them up to take the most vitamins and minerals out of the food when you eat.

Carbs: You may read that yacon powder is 82.2g carbs and kinda freak out. But these numbers don't take into account the fibre component (which the body can't metabolise or convert to energy). So that's why it's important to look at the Net Carbs and take into account your portion sizes. Per 10g powder, net carbs are 1g (and that's a lot of powder!) so to work out net carbs just take 10% of the weight of your dose.

for teaspoon 3g serve:  Energy 47kJ, Protein 1g, Fat <0g, Cholesterol 0g, Net Carbs 0.3g, Sugars <0g, Dietary Fibre 2.2g, Sodium 1mg, Phosphorus 6mg.

for the whole packet of 100g powder: Energy 1556kJ, Protein 32g, Fat 0.6g, Cholesterol 0g, Net Carbs 10.2g, Sugars 3.2g, Dietary Fibre 72g, Calcium 6mg, Sodium 35mg, Phosphorus 195mg.

Allergens: The yacon plant is related to sunflowers. If you're on a FODMAP diet or anyone dealing with gut permeability issues, this product may not be right for you. Dairy-free, Vegan, Vegetarian, Soy-free.

Storage: Store in a cool dry place or refrigerate for maximum shelf-life. Keep air tight.

Usage: Yacon powder is good in smoothie type drinks. Because yacon root powder is the whole root that has been dehydrated and then milled, it still contains the fibres. So it doesn't quite fully dissolve in beverages like yacon syrup does.

Keto Recipes using this Keto Ingredient: Your best bet with any Yacon product is to start slowly. Try a teaspoon at first and see how your gut responds. Yacon powder is in its element in baked goods like cookies and cakes or smoothies. Sprinkled on yoghurt, cereals. It's quite versatile.
